The Hershey Company joined the ranks of companies with products that have the ADA Seal of Acceptance for a sugar-free chewing gum product in January.
The company’s Ice Breakers Ice Cubes Sugar Free Chewing Gum, available in peppermint, spearmint and strawberry smoothie flavors, earned the Seal.
The ADA Council on Scientific Affairs’ Acceptance of this chewing gum is based on its finding that the physical action of chewing it for 20 minutes after eating stimulates saliva flow, which helps to prevent cavities by reducing plaque acids and strengthening teeth.
The ADA conducts a rigorous investigation of each product submitted for the ADA Seal of Acceptance, including evaluation of scientific data from clinical and/or laboratory testing to determine whether the product meets ADA criteria for product safety and effectiveness.
