—Midwestern hospitality, barbecue ribs, live music and some dental education and leadership development: Registration for the ADA 28th New Dentist Conference, set for July 17-19, is officially open.

The ADA New Dentist Conference, to be held at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center, seeks to provide new dentists (less than 10 years out of dental school) with tools and resources to help them become better dentists in this state of their careers.

During the full day of leadership development on July 17, new dentists will have the opportunity to discuss, in small group discussions with the ADA Board of Trustees and ADA New Dentist Committee, issues new practitioners face in their first 10 years of practice, such as student debt and navigating the business world.

Additionally, hands-on endodontic and implant courses will be conducted July 18-19 at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry—a new track for the New Dentist Conference.

“As new dentists, we owe it to ourselves, our families and our patients to be the very best dentists, business managers and leaders possible,” said Dr. Brian Schwab, chair of the New Dentist Committee. “The conference is three days of jam-packed leadership and clinical education, and business management courses together in an intimate setting while intermingling tons of fun, camaraderie and social activities.”

Participants can expect up to 14 hours of continuing education with a full day of leadership development and clinical and business courses from distinguished speakers.

“It’s such a great city. The best barbecue you can find anywhere and more than that, true Midwestern hospitality,” said Dr. Michael LeBlanc, vice chair of the New Dentist Committee. “I live there and we promise we’ll welcome you and you’ll enjoy an experience you won’t forget.”

As courses fill quickly, early registration is encouraged.

The pre-conference registration deadline is July 2. Attendees may register on-site at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center (an additional $50 registration fee will be applied).

Those who register by May 23 will get a chance to win a prize, such as one complimentary registration to the conference (valued at $275-$525); three nights lodging at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center, July 17-19; two complimentary registrations to ADA 2014—America’s Dental Meeting in San Antonio, Oct. 9-12; and three nights lodging at the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk in San Antonio, Oct. 9-12 (valued at $700).
